Took this photograph on Tuesday. Please read very carefully, because if this isn’t an exclusion Zone I would like to know what is!!!!! This is at both entrances to Byway 12! No public access whether by foot or by vehicle via the A344, no access even to pedestrians on the Byway 12 or 11. No parking obviously on the A303 and so the total control of the landscape is complete…oh and no suitable alternative routes!!!! So the only way we are ALLOWED to access Stonehenge is via English Heritages visitor center!! There seems to be no current evidence on the Wiltshire Council web pages. Please Telephone Mr John Cole at Wiltshire Highways.
I bet this isn’t 100% true, there must be access on foot when walking from Amesbury and they’re doing a bus service, this must be a misunderstanding.
well we parked on byway 11, 500 yds from the A303 with a wonderful view of the stones, and despite security guards who tried to stop us walking in on both byway 11 and 12 we were able to go past them and have a much better solstice experience than had we been herded into the ridiculous visitor centre and forced to walk thru the gauntlet of their search tents and then force marched down to the stones, also we were on byway 11 for 2 days and nights(and could have stayed longer} instead of the 17 hours english heretics allow
